About Our Hotel
Located in historic downtown Nacogdoches, the first town in Texas, the landmark Hotel Fredonia has garnered several awards that include Best Hotel since 2010 and Large Business of the Year 2012. Simple elegance, chivalry, Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack style music, a baby grand piano, and plush sofas welcome visitors from all over the world to the living room lobby of East Texas.
Hotel Fredonia began with Jack McKinney, who was born in The Banita Hotel in Nacogdoches. As co-founder of McKinney Drilling Company in 1940, and after many years of travel, McKinney concluded that his hometown needed a first class hotel to accommodate business travelers, vacationers and those seeking the solace of a resort.
McKinney shared his vision with fellow Nacogdoches residents, and through the sale of stocks, the ground breaking for Hotel Fredonia was in May 1954. A mere 11 months later, Nacogdoches celebrated the grand opening on April 1, 1955, and made headlines for being an air-conditioned hotel.
A hidden gem of East Texas, Hotel Fredonia offers rich heritage and gracious hospitality with its Certified Texas Friendly staff, making this independently owned boutique hotel, purchased by Susan Pack Reents in 2008, the place to stay in the Pineywoods of East Texas.
A full service hotel, Hotel Fredonia offers beautiful downtown views, award winning dining in J. McKinney’s restaurant, on the beautiful garden patio, through room service or at special events; craft beers and a selection of wines and beverages in Nine Flags Bar; a lobby coffee bar – The Vault; live music on the patio or in the lobby year round and a refreshing sky blue saltwater pool.
